Tsunami warning sirens went off at 6:00am. I was wondering why my alarm sounded so different this morning. My wife and I had set our alarms for an early Saturday morning in preparation for the Mayor's Prayer Luncheon that was to be held at the Marriott today. Our church's worship team was to provide the music. 700+ people were to attend. However, after tuning in to KQNG radio and hearing the Mayor on the airwaves, we realized that the morning plans for many people were going to be cancelled or postponed.
However, at 2:00pm, an official announcement made by the Kauai Civil Defense, cancelled the tsunami watch. Mahalo to the Kauai Civil Defense team, Mayor Bernard, KQNG radio and all those involved in keeping our community informed with up to date coverage on the tsunami. And most importantly, Mahalo Ke Akua!

Makai Properties' agents took a tour of Koloa Landing last week. Both completed units are on the first floor and offered a great feel of what’s to come.
Koloa Landing representatives announced that expected occupancy for the pictured building is August 2010 and September 2010 for the adjacent building.

Waimea Town Celebration

Waimea, the busiest town on Kauai this past weekend, was the site of the 33rd annual Waimea Town Celebration. The event started on Friday, February 19 and continued on to Saturday, February 20. The red dust (west Kauai's infamous red dirt) was kicked up to high gear as every kind of event contributed to it's frenzy. There was the Captain Cook Caper Fun Run (2, 5 & 10 k events), the Kilohana Canoe Race, a mountain ball tournament, a rodeo, an ice cream eating contest, an ukulele contest...and on and on...and we can't forget the all night live bands!
Makai Properties, LLC has an office in Waimea, which is between Subway and the Waimea Library. When I am not sitting open house in Poipu, I can be found sitting open house at our Waimea office...often in the late afternoon or evenings. In the last 3 months I listed and sold 2 homes in Kekaha in less than 50 days.

Don't forget: Poipu Bay Golf Course will be closing for renovation of the greens from April 1, 2010 through December 2010.
