Once a Month Church, Haleiwa, Oahu, HI

Once A Month Church  7/29/2012

Brother Dennis praying for the keiki (children) at Once a Month Church on Oahu.  With approximately 750 in attendance, Haleiwa Beach Park is in it's usual buzz every fourth Sunday of the month.

Sadly, founder of OAMC, Pastor Ron Valenciana passed away during the event at his home about a mile away.  His short battle with cancer ended his time with us, but left a legacy in helping those in need.  Fellow members of OAMC have announced that there will be another "service" on August 26.  Future plans for the monthly gathering are still being discussed.

(Tim Mira emcees Once A Month Church, Haleiwa, for Pastor Ron during his illness.)

On the island of Kauai, Church on the Beach is an offspring of Pastor Ron's vision.  Kauai Bible Church in Omao closes it's doors every third Sunday to bring the gospel message to the people at Salt Pond Beach Park.  Pastor Merv Walker's "fatherly" leadership encourages his members to be doers of the word and not merely hearers by transforming the park to a place of worship.

Read the book of James and be blessed by the word of God.

Change

It’s not always easy to change. However, change is inevitable.

These decisions don’t come easy when the only reason for change is because you just know deep in your gut, that it is time to move on. That safe and comfortable are not the ingredients for growth. Kinda like going away to college.

I respect Tim’s decision to take the road less traveled. To put his faith and hope in the God whom he serves. I have already received the benefits. Everything else is extra.

Respectfully,

Lynn

May Day 2009, Koloa, Kauai

Koloa Elementary School May Day 2009

A tradition that started back in 1928 as a way to encourage people to wear and celebrate lei. The tradition turned into an annual celebration that is especially promoted at every school in the Hawaiian Islands. A May Day king and queen and it’s court are chosen from among the school children to reign over the festivities. The court consists of an island princess and her kahili bearer that represent each of the 8 hawaiian islands. The remaining school children then perform Hawaiian songs and dances, usually by class, in honor of the May Day celebration. Yesterday, Koloa Elementary school held their annual May Day celebration, and I am always honored when they ask me to emcee and help out with the music.
