Movies in the Park - Poipu Beach Park- Friday, July 29, 2011

Soul Surfer, a movie about Kauai's own Bethany Hamilton, will be featured FREE at Poipu Beach Park at 8:00pm on Friday, July 29, 2011.  This event is part of the Koloa Plantation Days 10 day event that started on July 22, 2011.

You'll want to GO EARLY to reserve a nice spot at the beach park.  Bring a beach towel or beach chair.  This is also a great way to support Koloa Elementary school, who will be hosting a food concession both at the event.

Soul Surfer is an amazing and inspirational "true" story of Bethany Hamilton, who lives on the northshore of Kauai.  At age 13, Bethany is attacked by a shark while surfing.  My wife and I have already watched this movie twice.  Being parents of  bodyboarders around the same age as Bethany,  we were all at the same surfing contests that were held all over the island.  Bethany was just "one of the kids".  However, after watching this movie, you will realize that she is really more than "one of the kids".

Oahu leads 10 most expensive housing market

Money magazine listed Oahu as the leader of the "10 most expensive housings markets".  See article:

http://money.cnn.com/galleries/2011/real_estate/1106/gallery.highest_priced_markets/index.html

Beautiful weather, limited land space  and the fact that it costs so darn much to ship things over to Hawaii is attributed to the high cost of homes in Hawaii, says Money magazine.

But then again, we already know that...don't we??  ;)
